I have been asked time and again what I would change if I could start all over. That’s a very good question, and today I was asked this again, so I thought I’d put the answer here in the blog.
The answer is simple, I would have joined a mentoring group sooner. “BULL!” some of you are saying. Please read on, you’ll see why I say this with all sincerity.
My mentoring group increased my learning curve exponentially. The right mentoring group isn’t all you need, however. You also need the right mentor or mentors. The combination of the right mentors and mentoring group will blow your mind. Do you believe in The Secret? You should. Do you believe in Mastermind groups? You should. They absolutely work. Put the right group of people in the same room with the right mentors, and you will walk away energized with renewed spirit and energy. A book cannot teach you this. A book cannot give you this. You can ONLY get this by putting the right people in the same room at the same time with a credible and willing mentor or mentors. Ideas flow, businesses grow, and paychecks follow.
David Corbaley and I routinely get together to talk about our businesses. Recently we started getting together to build this program for you. When we meet, there is very little sleep (maybe 4 hours a night), but I’m never tired. This will go on for day after day after day. On the airplane ride home, I cannot sleep. That night after returning home, I cannot sleep. I am so energized by the brainstorming, ideas, and progress that I can’t shut my brain down, it simply won’t let me.
This is what life is all about. Being so excited about the future that you can’t sleep. To this day, I routinely wake up at 5am, go for a jog, brew a pot of coffee and start working on a project. This lifestyle can be attributed to one thing, the people I have met in my mentoring group, and the ideas that subsequently flowed from them.
